Android phones that continues growing gigantically has taken casualties towards other handset market share. One of the most depressed of the hegemony of this Android is the BlackBerry of Research In Motion (RIM). Android even analysts like ‘nightmare‘ for BlackBerry.

According to a data of Canalys research institute for example, sales of Android now has secured 44 percent market share of smart-phones in the United States in the third quarter of 2010. Followed by Apple that shifts the RIM in third position with 26 percent of regional power.

Other research institutions were present more or less the same calculation as the one by Canalys, NPD also named Android gets 44 percent the proportion of smart phone sales in the U.S. for Q3 2010. This number jumped 11 percent than the second quarter of 2010. NPD also put iOS Apple in second place with 23 percent. While RIM slumped in the third position with a percentage of 22 percent.

The result is of course somewhat bad for RIM. Because in the third quarter of 2009, a Canadian vendor is listed control 46 percent of the market. Now, the situation turned around 180 degrees. Android smart-phone market has become ruler of the United States. Whereas in the third quarter 2009, sales of Android only 3 percent of market share. Compare with the acquisition of their sales in Q3 2010, which reached 44 percent. Achieved remarkable surge.

As quoted from ZDNet last Tuesday, Ross Rubin of NPD analyst stated that the Android market growth has taken RIM’s more than Apple. HTC Evo 4G, Motorola Droid X, and other high-end Android handsets had found their momentum in the carrier prior to RIM’s business base. Fortunately, the release of the BlackBerry Torch quite able to withstand this onslaught of Android.
