iPhone OS 3.1.2 Firmware Released
Apple has released OS 3.1.2 for the iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.
According to Apple, the latest firmware for the iPhone resolves several bugs including a sporadic issue that would prevent the device from waking from sleep mode, a bug that would interrupt cellular network services until a restart and a bug that could cause the occasional crash during video streaming.

Readers wishing to upgrade their units are advised to set aside some time. The download for the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware updates is over 240 megabytes.
To update your iPhone software:
- Open iTunes on your computer
- Connect your iPhone to your computer
- Look for iPhone link under the Devices heading on the left hand side of iTunes
- Click on the iphone link to display the iPhone summary page which displays information about your iPhone
- Under the Version heading, click on the “Update” button to begin updating your phone.
- Follow the prompts in the dialog box (see image below) which appears.
Once you have followed all of the prompts and confirmed that you want iTunes to update your iPhone, iTunes will begin downloading the iPhone software update.
