Firefox Add-On “Firesheep” Can Plough Facebook and Twitter

A new Firefox add-on lets anyone to hijack other people access to Facebook, Twitter and other social networking services via WiFi tracking. The Add-on which is called ‘Firesheep’ was released by Eric Butler, a freelance web application developer from Seattle, in the event ToorCon Security Conference, in San Diego, United States (U.S.).

Firesheep which has already been downloaded 50 thousand times since it was launched, adding a sidebar in the Firefox browser that shows anyone who is using a WiFi connection in public areas, and sites they visit. “By doing double-click on an existing one in the sidebar, you can log in as a person,” said Butler

Reported by Computer World on Tuesday, Butler said he created the Firesheep to show people the dangers of unencrypted access via a WiFi connection. “This will leave the cookies, and users certainly vulnerable being hijacked. In an open wireless network, a cookie is basically shown to the public, making this kind of attack is very easy to do,” Butler wrote in his blog. With the available cookies, the user is in the grip of his hand, a cyber criminals can do anything on that site. The sites that is comonly hijacked by Firesheep including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, bit.ly, Google and Amazon.

Firefox Home : Nice-Looking Bar on Our iPhone

The Web-browsing app Firefox is now available on iTunes. That was a news as quoted from crave last week. The app, named Firefox Home app will syncronize our iPhone with Firefox home as our desktop browser. Some bookmark, history and tabs are recordable. Firefox 4 It`s Faster, Simpler and No Flash

Mozilla is on the way preparing its firefox 4, which is said to be released by the end of 2010. Mike Beltzner, Firefox Director of Development, as quoted from TBO last week, stated that this new browser will offer more advancement. Firefox 4 which is said to be released by the end of this year, is promised to have a more simple appearance and off course a faster browsing speed.

Mozilla considers the present Firefox is complicated. Later on Firefox 4 will have a simpler menu buttons to ease consumers to access this browser. Firefox 4 will be more stable and takes less adds-on programs on it. A brand new web programming, HTML 5 will enable videos and other multimedia contents, to be played without using Adobe Flash. With the features offered in Firefox 4, Firefox 4 will have a much faster web browsing speed.

Firefox is the world’s second most popular browser after Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Microsoft it self is also said about to prepare its latest update. It seems that there will be a tight competitions between the two browsers.
