Google Is Ready to Snatch Microsoft Office Users
Google has announced a new service that combines the Google Docs and Microsoft Office. Ready to ‘seize’ Office users, the new service called Google Cloud Connect for Microsoft Office.
Basically this is a plug-in for Office. Once installed, Cloud Connect will enable the edited document in MS Office Docs stored on Google servers. Not just that, Google Docs users can collaborate to edit the document through Microsoft Office. Cloud Connect can run on MS Office 2010, 2007 and 2003. MS Office Users simply have a Google account to run it.
Shan Sinha, Group Product Manager at Google, said that there are already tens of millions of users of Google Docs. “Obviously, we know many of you who still use Microsoft Office,” he wrote in the official Google blog.
Google Cloud Connect is an evolution of a product called DocVerse, and Sinha is one of the founders DocVerse, companies that have been bought by Google in early 2010.
Google Is Working On Google Instant For Mobile
Google’s newly launched Google Instant, was favored by many users. Respond to this case, Google plans to create a mobile version for the instant search machine . In fact, Google claims to have a high cost building Google Instant. In addition, it takes too much computing software and hardware resources. But anyway, to please its users, Google is no doubt working on the Google Instant for mobile.
Senior Vice President of Product Management for Google, Jonathan Rosenberg stated that Google’s Instant Search is not just created to make money. “From the point resource perspective, this is actually very expensive” as reported by eWEEK and quoted on Wednesday. But Rosenberg refused to explain how much the cost. While other Google spokesman said only, to make Google’s instant, this internet giant had to buy additional computer servers to make Google Instant can smoothly work.
Google also built a system to control the paging system to which Google Instant show results in proportion as relevant as possible. Now, Google Instant team is working hard to bring quick search engine technology from the desktop to mobile devices. Rosenberg also promised that Google Instant for mobile version is coming soon for Android phones, Blackberry and the iPhone this fall.
Google TV Engaged with HBO, CNN, and Amazon
Google TV will soon be coming soon. The mighty search-engine has reportedly signed a contract with media and also internet companies to supply the content of these digital TV services.
Quoted by Reuters on Thursday (10/07/2010), a company that has agreed to establish cooperation for Google TV shows including NBC Universal, including CNBC, HBO Time Warner and Amazon. Others, cable networks company Turner Broadcasting, said Google is currently working to optimize a few websites to be viewed on Google TV, including CNN and Cartoon Network. While NBC Universal will present access to CNBC financial news shows, and HBO will also be presenting a variety of impressions that are not less interesting.
What about Amazon? its Video On Demand service offers access to more than 75 video titles that can be rented or purchased. Netflix is also offering an unlimited TV shows and movies service instantly.
“We also work with news sites like The New York Times and microblogging service Twitter,” Google added in the statement. FYI, Google TV presence will be more complete with the Google TV devices that will be launched in the near future. Sony and Logitech was already declared their readiness to welcome the service.
