Android OS Takes HTC and Samsung Off on Smartphone Market

Relying on android OS smartphones seemed to have been fruitful blessing for HTC and Samsung. According to iSuppli, as quoted from TechWatch, HTC successfully raised its market share to 8% in the second quarter of 2010 from 5.3% in the first quarter. The Taiwanese vendors are firmly in the fourth position of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers.

As for Samsung, after launching Android handset such as the Galaxy S has managed to shift Motorola in fifth position, with a market share of 4.6% from 3.2% previously. “Android is the secret growth of smartphones for many companies in 2010,” said Tina Teng, a senior analyst at iSuppli. Despite shifting the position, which also relies on Motorola’s Android also

enjoying an increase. Their smartphone market share is now 4.5%, previous 4.3% in the first quarter.
